Steps

Steps bring together different levels of a landscaped area, both visually and functionally. They can be constructed in many different materials, selected to be in keeping with the overall theme.

This paved step uses bull-nosed clay pavers to link two areas of exposed aggregate tread. The coloured pavers give an attractive contrast to the grey aggregate and ties into the other paved borders.

Perhaps the most common are open timber steps. While they might look a little bare here, once the planting is finished they will merge more into the garden. This design of step tends to be used in more functional areas.

Another style using treated timbers blends into the timber retaining wall and leads onto a timber deck to create a unified look that links the outdoor areas.
